As audio products — smart speakers, in-car speakers and portable speakers — move toward better looks and higher performance, the masking tape application process on textured speaker grille covers is being upgraded. The Wanzhi tape applicator effectively solves pain points such as adhesive residue, shifting during application, grille deformation and coating defects, helping audio products achieve high-quality, high-efficiency volume production.

Textured speaker grille covers combine sound transmission, dust protection, protection and decoration. In coating, curing and screen printing processes, masking tape is a core precision masking consumable, used mainly for process masking, positioning and fixing, and contamination protection. It is a key process for keeping speaker appearance consistent and acoustic performance stable.

Traditional application processes have long had obvious shortcomings: manual application is imprecise and inconsistent, tape adhesion is unstable, and the grille is easily stretched and deformed, or the tape shifts and leaves gaps, or shifts during coating — causing defect rates of 8%-12% on premium speaker products, seriously affecting capacity and quality and holding back volume production of premium speakers.

The industry has also adopted a standardized tape application system, using the Wanzhi automatic tape applicator to automate the step and replace traditional manual work. The WZ-806 single-head tape applicator is equipped with a PLC control system and intelligent sensing and recognition modules, and adapts to die-cut tape lengths on both flat and curved speaker grille covers. It automatically completes product alignment, precise positioning, constant-speed roller pressing and steady application, holding dimensional error within ±1mm. A flexible pressure structure prevents bubbling, bulging and shifting on grille covers, and the machine suits volume production of multiple product models.

Going forward, Wanzhi Automation will keep going deeper, building custom automatic tape application solutions for different objects and advancing automation of the whole apply, mask and peel process
