1. Automatic tape applicators in brief
●A tape applicator is an automated machine that cuts tape and applies it to a designated position on the product.
●Applicable tapes: double-sided tape, 3M tape, foam tape, sponge tape, single-sided tape, cloth tape, etc. (acrylic tape and residue-free tape are generally difficult to cut automatically)
●Tape applicators serve several main purposes: raising taping efficiency, improving taping quality, and replacing taping work that people cannot do or find very hard to do.
●There are 2 tape cut types: serrated and straight (selected according to customer requirements)
●Among automated machines, the tape applicator is custom equipment: it is designed and built around the shape, size and characteristics of the customer’s product, the required taping efficiency and accuracy, and the properties of the tape. Because different customers’ products are often similar, an applicator designed for such products at a given efficiency and accuracy, and therefore reasonably versatile, is also called a standard machine.
●Tape applicators serve a very wide range of industries, such as printed card, packaging boxes and cartons, electronic, hardware and plastic parts, and home improvement and building materials.
2. How a tape applicator is built
▲Standard mechanical components: unwind roll unit, roller unit, cutting unit, rewind unit (optional), adjustment unit, conveyor unit, feeding unit, guide unit, product detection unit, receiving unit, touch screen unit and electrical cabinet.
▲Electrical components: PLC, touch screen, motors, photoelectric product sensors, pneumatic cylinders, solenoid valves, pushbuttons, switches, switching power supply, wiring, terminals, etc.
3. Factors affecting taping results
◎Efficiency: product shape, product specifications
◎Accuracy: product regularity, conveying and positioning accuracy
◎Taping quality: product flatness, regularity
4. The five “elements” of a taping specification
● What are you taping? — product characteristics
● What are you taping with? — tape material
● Where does the tape go? — tape position
● How fast? — taping efficiency
● How accurate? — taping accuracy
